Failure is part of the Story

31 OCTOBER 2017 // BIZ SH*T

Failure excites me – does that make me strange?

Why does it excite me? Because failure often means you have tried something new and that is exciting.

OK, so I am not talking big-ass-fall-on-your-face-pants-round-your-ankles type of failure, but I am talking about those things you do that you don’t go quite as well as you had hoped.

Failure is not the end of the road though, it is part of the development. Part of the evolvement of building a business because let’s be real, no one has it sussed. No one knows the perfect path to follow, the perfect next thing to do, we are all just winging it really (some may just have a little more of a game plan than others…!).

So when you embark on something new, be open and embrace the good, the bad and the nasty because these all make you more resilient as a business owner. They make you realise what you want to actually do. They help you to shape a stronger and more structured business.

Now, I am not saying you should go out looking for failure (just to clear that up!!). You need to be totally behind the thing you are doing, you need to start it with a good feeling, a positive outlook and a can-do attitude. But if you do get bumps in the road, learn from them and know that they are probably making your steer into the right direction and that they are shaping your business journey.

So next something doesn’t go to plan, ask yourself “What can I learn from this?” and then move on. Don’t dwell. Don’t stagnate in despair. Turn that negative into action and learn from it – there is a lesson in everything you know ūüėä

With love
